The Times – Mind your language skills
Mary Ann Eddleston is quoted in a piece in The Times which says that bilingual and multilingual PAs have the pick of some great jobs. The piece talks about how PAs with language skills can achieve a significant salary boost but points out that a short language course or an A level won’t really cut it. “School level qualifications are not enough because people will not have learnt the right vocabulary for a business role. A degree is the usual minimum requirement while having culturally relevant work experience as well as language skills will help candidates stand out.”

The Manchester Evening news – Languages key for jobs
Our survey of 228 employers was covered in the Manchester Evening News. The survey found that 86% of all employers felt that languages were an important skill.  French and Italian were found to be most useful while demand for Mandarin and Arabic was also growing.  In shipping, Urdu, Filipino and Russian were useful while the oil and gas sector favoured Norwegian and Arabic.

Salaries in the region are being driven upwards by as much as 15%
